Fonte (com mais umas imagens): CarscoopHands up who doesn’t like the Porsche 906? Not many, I guess, and that’s rather unsurprising. The 906 was the last of Porsche’s street legal race cars, built to homologate the Group 4 racing category. Weighing in at a lithe 1,300 lb (580 kg), the 906 featured a body comprising a lightweight tubular space frame and unstressed fibreglass shell. Most were fitted with a 220 hp (164 kW) 2.0 L six that gave it a top speed of 170 mph (280 km/h).
And with its mid-engine enclosed by a Plexiglas cover and those oh-so-fashionable gullwing doors, the 906 looked like a prop out of a science fiction movie. A 1970s science fiction movie to be sure, but that’s neither here nor there.
Patrick Motorsports (PMC) of Phoenix, Arizona has recently completed an intensive restoration on one of these cars, of which only fifty were produced. The so-called, “Full Concourse Quality Restoration” of this 1966-built model included the chassis, sub frame, fibreglass body and exterior paint.
The company went so far as to redesign and fabricate new gullwing door hinges and added a roof-mounted exhaust port to help cool the 906’s glassed-in cabin. They also completely rebuilt the suspension and replaced all the suspension rod ends with stainless steel.
Overall, the work appears to be of a high standard, resulting in a museum quality show piece that should also be driveable. Though, from the looks of that minimalist cabin and lack of sound proofing, I’m not too sure it’d be an altogether smooth or quiet ride. Still, one can’t have everything. Check out our gallery and feel free to leave a piece in the comments section below.

![]()
Porsche is reportedly working on a new range-topping Turbo S version of its four-door Panamera. Much like the Turbo S versions of the 911 and Cayenne, this would likely mean a bump in power is in order, as well as tweaked design elements and some additional standard equipment.
Autoblog.it reports that the Panamera Turbo S is expected to produce around 550 horsepower – 50 hp more than the 'base' Turbo. Torque output is also pegged to increase from 516 pound-feet (or 568 lb-ft with the Sport Chrono Turbo pack) to around 590 lb-ft. Thus, the Panamera Turbo S should sprint to 62 miles per hour in around 3.8 seconds.
Rumors suggest that Porsche could debut its Panamera Turbo S as early as April at either the New York Auto Show or the Shanghai Motor Show. Based on the price premium the 911 Turbo S commands over the 911 Turbo, we expect the mooted Panamera Turbo S to be priced somewhere around the $160,000 mark.
Fonte: CarscoopFor 30 years now, German-based tuning house Gemballa has been taking the latest Porsche models and transforming them into custom machines with wild outputs. Despite the recent loss of the firm’s founder, Uwe Gemballa, the company continues to roll new creations. At this week’s 2011 Top Marques Monaco Show (April 14-17), Gemballa is showing off two newcomers, the Porsche Cayenne II based Tornado and the Panamera sedan-based Mistrale. Both the Tornado and the Mistrale feature a heavily customized body with unique front and rear ends, and an array of bespoke aero parts. According to the German tuning house, the new components not only change the appearance of the two Porsche models, but also help reduce weight.
"We have significantly reduced weight, but without compromising strength, safety or comfort,” explained Andreas Schwarz, CEO of Gemballa. “Rather than cutting into the steel panels and bonding on new parts, as is common in the aftermarket industry, we completely replace entire panels with bespoke carbon-fibre ones that use the original mounting points. These new panels, which include the bonnet, front wings, doors, front and rear bumper/valance, save a total of 70kg.”
The sheetmetal changes on the outside are complemented by a set of newly styled 22-inch alloy wheels, which are said to have the same weight as the original 20-inch rims from Porsche.
Gemballa offers a variety of customizations for both interiors, ranging from carbon-fiber trim and seats finished in a mix of alcantara and leather to high-end infotainment systems.
There’s plenty of magic under the hood as well with Gemballa offering two different engine kits for the V8 Turbo models. The Stage 1 kit boosts output to 580HP on the Cayenne-based Tornado and to 600HP with 850Nm (626 lb-ft) of torque on the Panamera-based Mistrale.Power hungry customers can also opt for a Stage 2 package, which gives both cars 700HP, and around 1,000Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque.
In celebration of its 30th anniversary this year, the German company decided to limit production of the Tornado and Mistrale models to 30 units each.
Fonte: AutoblogRumors of a more powerful, special edition Porsche 911 GT3 RS have been circulating for months, and now the spec sheet has purportedly been leaked online. The order form is ostensibly for what's being dubbed the GT3 RS 4.0, packing a bored-out flat-six with 500 horsepower – a 200cc increase in displacement and 50 horses more than the existing GT3 RS, which itself already packs 15 more ponies than the standard GT3.
The price sheet also lists a €150,000 sticker before tax (equivalent to $217k), or €190,000 with a 20-percent value-added tax attached, and details options like a nav system, ceramic brakes and a nose-lift apparatus. The sheet was posted on the Teamspeed forum, but while the intrepid poster claims its authenticity, a debate is raging over its potential falsification, pointing out, for example, certain discrepancies (such as the 2011 model year instead of 2012, output listed in BHP instead of Porsche's usual PS, and "breaks" instead of "brakes") that have raised doubts.
Whether the spec sheet is authentic or not, we should be finding out soon enough, so stay tuned and watch this space for more.
