"For some years the car was owned by the aforementioned Mr. Alan Ramsay, and it is possible that he sold the Lancia in 1956, when he acquired an Allard J2. Mr. Mike Satow (who headed Imperial Chemical Industries) seems to have cared for the Lancia as well, as he did for several other Calcutta racing machines, and was a significant player in the Calcutta racing scene .

When Mike retired and moved back to the UK, he gave–or sold–the car to someone who kept it in a cigarette factory in Kakinada, in Southern India. This factory was eventually shut down and then abandoned. Yet the Lancia remained in a corner, with trees growing through it. Eventually, the car was ‘rediscovered’, hoisted over the wall and taken to the nearby city of Hyderabad, where it was restored. The new owner, Mr. Kumar Verma, then migrated to the US, selling the car to Bombay-based collector Mr. Harit Trivedi.

Though the engine and gearbox is from a SS-Jaguar, the chassis, axles, wheels, hubs and steering are all original Lancias. Being a significant car in Indian racing history, the Lancia was invited to take part in the 2008 Cartier Concours d’Elegance event in Bombay. Since then, Harit has been participating with this striking looking car at most Bombay-based classic and vintage car events, happy in the knowledge that a true piece of Indian racing history is under his care."Em Raced Regularly, The Rest of this Lancia's History is Uncertain | Petrolicious

Let's Show Marchionne that Lancia Matters

"“The Lancia brand has no history [outside Italy],” declared Mr. Sergio Marchionne, Fiat and Chrysler's CEO, recently when announcing that he will be eliminating the brand save for the badge-engineered Lancia Ypsilon that will be sold only in Italy.

Marchionne-bashing is all too easy these days, and auto journalists seem to love hearing themselves complain about Sergio, but I don’t share that sentiment. He is a smart businessman. He has done a fantastic job reviving Maserati into a coveted luxury brand once again, with a focus on engineering excellence that has eliminated the reliability stigma it suffered in the ’80s. He also readily acknowledges Fiat’s errors during Mr. Gianni Agnelli’s reign when Fiat squandered away much of Alfa Romeo’s prestige and brand value. To remedy that, he has committed five billion Euro over the next five years to make Alfa Romeo the legendary sports car manufacturer it once was, and the 4C is clearly a great start. While rebuilding Alfa Romeo and re-launching Fiat in the US, he has also had the unenviable job of standing tough against Italian unions, notorious for holding back much of Italian industry.

So why would Marchionne want to kill the historic and valuable Lancia brand? Could it be that he's misjudging Chryslers', re-badged as Lancias, poor sales as an indication of lack of interest in the Italian brand? Come on, people are smarter than that. Of course a Voyager minivan or a 200 with a Lancia badge is going to have limited appeal!

Lancia deserves a fair chance at a comeback. Marchionne could leverage the brand’s incredible rally heritage that it built with cars like the Stratos, 037, or the Delta Integrale HF, and give us a WRC-worthy AWD hot-hatch. Or if an upscale sports coupe reminiscent of the iconic Aurelia, Flaminia, or Flavia overlaps too much with Maserati, then why not a mid-market lineup with a focus on elegance and design, harking back to the Lancias of the ‘60s and early ‘70s? If the VW Group can breathe life into Seat and Skoda, brands with major overlap within VW itself and much less heritage or global name recognition than Lancia, then I think FCA should be able to do much better with Lancia.

If you agree, show Marchionne your love for Lancia by commenting below, sharing your Lancia stories, or letting him know what you’d like to see from the marque."Em Let's Show Marchionne that Lancia Matters | Petrolicious

LANCIA RALLY CAR IS HALF PRACTICAL, HALF UNCUT AWESOME

http://postimage.org/index.php?lang=german

People have been passionate about racing since the very first foot race. Hence, it was only a matter of time before a couple of guys with cars lined up next to one another and one said, "Bet I can beat you there..." The first auto races were held on public roads, and that’s how rallying as a form of motorsport appeared. The years passed by, cars became faster and more powerful, and rallying reached a zenith in 1982 with the introduction of Group B regulations. However, there was always some risk. Accidents happened and people got injured. But after Mr. Henri Toivonen and his co-driver Mr. Sergio Cresto died when their Lancia Delta S4 plunged into a ravine and exploded during the Corsica stage of the 1986 World Rally Championship, the FIA abolished Group B mere hours later. Similar to Formula 1, no one wanted to see people dying, safety was reconsidered, and this is how Group A came to be, which in turn led to the appearance of Lancia Delta HF 4WD.
From the outset, the car brought Lancia even more fame. Wins came after wins. But rules specified that homologation was necessary, so road cars were offered to customers before the season began. Wild, outrageous, and desired by many but owned only by those who dared. From year to year, the four-wheel drive Delta went through changes, starting with the eight-valve Integrale and up to this gorgeous Integrale Evoluzione II. The last version of the legend, it was only produced for two years, 1993 and 1994.

This one hails from St. Petersburg, Russia. The car seems to possess some inner power that you feel when standing close by. It is not like anything else. Rally legends? Yes, Lancias are amazing: the Stratos, the 037, the S4, and the Integrale. The Audi Quattro is also a rally legend but its missing that certain something to truly reel you in, from my point of view. Ivan, the owner, has dreamed of the Delta Integrale since childhood, and it took him around four months to convince the previous owner to say his farewells to this masculine and extremely charismatic machine, but finally the dream came true.
However, the reality was a little bit less charming than the dream. At first, the old sheetmetal did not accept new paint but, after some preparation, everything worked out. The rust was ruthless. Besides the paint, it had some more serious issues and thus a complete restoration began. Finding parts for such a rare car was not an easy matter, so you’d better think twice if you're considering purchasing something like a Delta Integrale. The engine, transmission, and suspension were also rebuilt with the addition of some aftermarket parts, which improved the performance of this old little Lancia. And, of course, the legendary Martini Racing livery was added. In spite of all the issues, it accelerated like a gunshot when Ivan first floored the pedal, before any work was even done.
Not only does driving a rally legend like the Evo II make you feel completely different on the road but it also exposes you to a completely new world of people, whose way of thinking is just like yours. So if you ever thought of owning such a car, go for it, do not wait any longer. If you need to justify it, well, it's got four doors. It might be not the best investment in the world but definitely one of the most exciting.
