Gray Design cria concept baseado na Arte Nova

Inspired by Alphonse Mucha's drawings

Gray Design has returned with a new concept car which draws its inspiration from the Art Nouveau movement.
After announcing the Zeus Twelveautomotive division, Gray Design is back with another interesting concept that goes by the name of Nouvair. The creation of the vehicle coincides with the firm's debut as an official judge at the West Coast Motorshow in Sweden and comes with a curvy exterior design inspired by the Art Nouveau movement.
It's only a design study at this moment so there aren't any technical details to share, but the styling approach is quite impressive and according to Gray Design it takes cues from Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist Alphonse Mucha known for his flowing curves.

Students hit 0-100kph in 2.15s - breaks electric vehicle world record

15640773811317892591.jpg

A group of Dutch students have managed to break the electric vehicle acceleration record by taking their creation from 0-100kph (0-62mph) in just 2.15 seconds.
It represents a massive increase on the previous record which stood at 2.68 seconds and was quicker than team manager Tim de Moree had expected. “We thought that under these conditions we’d be happy with 2.30,” de Moree said. “But we really didn’t expect 2.15.”
Amazingly, the time even eclipses the production car record of 2.3 seconds that was achieved by the Ariel Atom V8 in 2010.
The electric car was created at Delft University of Technology and comes with wheel-mounted electric motors that provide a combined output of 135HP. It has a dry weight of just 320 lbs (145kg) and the run was further helped by its driver, Marly Kuijpers who was the smallest member of the team.

Massive CT Scanner Will Glean Safety Insight From Wrecked Cars

ct-scan-of-a-crashed-car_100442638_l.jpg

Computed tomography (CT) scanners are great for diagnosing problems in people, but what about cars?
The Fraunhofer Development Center is using the biggest CT scanner it can find to analyze wrecked cars. Researchers hope to gain some insight into how individual components react under the forces of a collision.

Fraunhofer says a CT provides analysts with a three-dimensional view of the wreckage, without disturbing anything.

That sounds good, but how do you fit a car in a CT scanner?
Apparently, you just get a bigger scanner. Fraunhofer is building a giant scanner that it says can be used for cars, as well as to detect damage to airplane wings and to scan the contents of shipping containers.

Here's how Fraunhofer says it will work.

A crashed car is hoisted onto a turntable. As it turns, two X-ray detectors on either side scan it, and a computer merges the multiple images generated into a whole, three-dimensional CT scan.

The giant scanner has a resolution of 0.8 mm, but its designers hope to get it down to 0.4 mm.

The scans could -- theoretically -- allow crash investigators to track the weakening or failure of specific parts across an entire car, showing which where forces were directed and how each part of a car's structure reacted.
The question is: will the giant scanners actually fit in any existing crash test labs?

Agora sim, é oficial, a Alemanha carregou no limite de 95 g/km

img3293-1381838310.jpg

First Arabian Supercar, the Lykan HyperSport, to Debut in Production Trim at Dubai Show

It's been a long time since we last heard of the Arab world's first ever supercar, the Lykan HyperSport from Lebanese-based W Motors, which was displayed as a concept at the Qatar Motor Show in January, but today, we received word from the company that it will be revealing the production version at the Dubai International Motor Show, held from November 5 to 9, 2013.W Motors may be a completely new and for the most part, unknown to masses name in the supercar scene, but it's sure making some pretty bold claims about the Lykan, such as that it will be "the most luxurious, exclusive and technologically advanced hypercar in the world".

Only seven examples of Lykan will be built, each priced at $3.4 million (about €2.5 or GBP 2.1 million), which is twice as much as a Bugatti Veyron, and almost nine times the price of a Lamborghini Aventador, the styling of which it slightly resembles from some angles and details.

Power comes from an unidentified (but possibly sourced from Porsche), mid-mounted twin-turbocharged flat-six engine rated for 750-horsepower and 1,000Nm (737 lb-ft) of peak torque that drives the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, for a 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of…395km/h (245mph).
According to the company's release, it also features the following items:
"A one of a kind holographic display with interactive motion and tactile interaction, an advanced ID4Motion dashboard and a uniquely developed reverse mechanical doors system. Adding a touch of modern luxury, the “Lykan” comes with Diamond encrusted LED lights, gold--‐stitched interior seats, a 24h/24h elite concierge service lifestyle and a unique patented design Cyrus Klepcys watch dedicated to “Lykan” owners only."
