"Volvo …

Increased weight for Honda and Chevrolet in Moscow

"The Honda Civic and Chevrolet Cruze cars will get 20 extra kilos of compensation weight ahead of the FIA World Touring Car Championship races at Moscow Raceway.
The compensation weight system is calculated on the previous three race weekends, Hungaroring, Slovakiaring and Salzburgring.

The Citroën C-Elysée remains on maximum compensation weight of 60 kilos over the base weight of 1100 kilos while the Lada Granta remains on no compensation weight.

The WTCC race at Moscow Raceway takes place on June 8th."Em TouringCarTimes | Increased weight for Honda and Chevrolet in Moscow

2014 FIA WTCC Race of Russia Compensation Weight

Citroën C-Elysée – +60 kg – 1160 kg
Chevrolet RML Cruze, Honda Civic – +20 kg – 1120 kg
LADA Granta – 0 kg – 1100 kg

Citroën expands to four cars for Moscow Raceway

"Citroën is going to field four C-Elysée cars for the FIA World Touring Car Championship races in Russia next weekend with Ma Qing Hua joining regular drivers José-María López, Yvan Muller and Sébastien Loeb.

“I can’t wait to get out and race again, in a high-quality championship and as part of a very professional outfit,” said Qing Hua.
The Chinese driver visited the French team a couple of weeks earlier in order to prepare for his debut.

“A few weeks ago, I spent a lot of time at the technical centre in Versailles. It was really special to see the old Dakar Rally and WRC cars, which have won so many races and titles. I got the opportunity to meet the whole team and we spent a long time getting me set up in the C-Elysée WTCC. I had taken part in several test sessions over the winter, and I then did another day in Navarra, which enabled us to work more specifically on the setup of my car,” said Qing Hua.

While Qing Hua is new to the team, four-time WTCC champion Muller continues his fight at Moscow Raceway to gain on championship leader and team mate López who is 41 points ahead.

“It’s definitely the hardest season I’ve had in WTCC! From 2010 to 2013, I only had one DNF a year. I’ve had two already this year, and I hope that’s my lot! You win a championship by being consistent and scoring points in every race,” said Muller.

Nine-time WRC champion Loéb is just four points behind Muller in third position in the drivers’ championship after a consistent start to the season with nine top ten finishes."Em TouringCarTimes | Citroën expands to four cars for Moscow Raceway

USA round of the WTCC cancelled due to logistics problem

"The FIA World Touring Car Championship will not visit the USA as planned on 14th September this year. The Championship is set to miss the Sonoma Raceway event, which was scheduled to take place for the third time, due to logistical issues.

The Championship will visit South America, at the Termas de Río Hondo circuit in Argentina in August, and then the cars and equipment will head straight to China, instead of making the journey to North America.

The reason for the change is understood to be due to an unresolvable logistical issue, with the Suzuka race unmovable due to its proximity to the FIA Formula 1 race at the circuit, and the series equipment unable to make its race date in the USA and then make it on time to China due to a scheduling conflict outside of the control of the organisers.

The calendar is still set to remain at 12 events, with an additional race in China set to take place instead at a circuit to be confirmed, in addition to the scheduled round at the Shanghai International Circuit.

The USA event would have been the third in a three year deal but with Citroen and Lada having no market in the USA, it’s commonly believed that this year’s event was already set to have been the Championship’s last in North America for the time-being."Em TouringCarTimes | USA round of the WTCC cancelled due to logistics problem
