The Supercar Kids – What Happened After Top Gear Left Australia?

I’m sure most of you have seen Top Gear’s outback episode (Season 22/2) last Sunday evening. For those who haven’t, in short, the boys wanted to prove that modern cars are very, very reliable and will work nearly everywhere on this planet.

So the producers told Jeremy, James and Richard to take three modern cars to the outback in Australia. James chose a Nissan GT-R, Jeremey a BMW M6 Gran Coupé and Richard went for a Bentley Continental V8S. Heat and rough terrain are only two examples of the tortures which awaited the cars.

By the end of this episode the cars still worked perfectly, although they suffered minor cosmetic damages. Bryn Davies sent us a few photos of the Bentley that Hammond used. The photos show the car getting completely revised in an Australian workshop.

The car had to be completely re-sprayed and there was a lot of under body damage. It has lost more than 50% of its original value and the worst thing is that the Bentley was in the best condition of the three cars. So even if these cars “survived” the outback, DON’T take your own car there! Unless you are Top Gear of course.

Grande episódio, ri-me do início ao fim.
