The Zenos E10 sports car has been revealed at the Autosport International show in Birmingham.
Director of the company and former Caterham cars CEO Ansar Ali unveiled the car, which is powered by a 197bhp 2.0-litre Ford engine. Available with either a five or six-speed manual transmission, the E10 weighs in at 650kg - meaning it has a power to weight ratio of more than 300bhp per tonne.
Official performance figures for the car have not yet been revealed, but a 0-60mph time of less than five seconds is expected.
While orders have already opened for the standard car, which is priced at £24,995, Zenos is also putting a special Launch Editition of the E10 on sale. Priced at £28,995, the first 75 E10 models will be Launch Editions, and will come with a six-speed manual transmission, performance wheels, a limited-slip differential, a quick-release steering wheel and bespoke paintwork.
Much of the E10's engineering, Ali told Autocar, lies in its simple construction. A single aluminium 'spine' runs the length of the car, with a carbon tub bolted to it to form the shell. Ali says that approach makes the new platform very adaptable, meaning longer-wheelbase designs were also possible.
Ali also confirmed that Zenos will launch a further two models, a roadster version of the E10, badged E11, and a coupe variant badged as E12. Those models are likely to keep the E10's powertrain and platform.
"We're making a statement about value and about having our own design language," he said. "We've developed our product profile for the last 18 months, the E10 is the first model we're launching and we're confident that Zenos Cars will find its place in the sports car market."
While the UK will undoubtedly be the largest market for the E10, Ali says the company has had expressions of interest from elsewhere in Europe. Over 200 registrations of interest have already been made for the E10 via Zenos' website.
Zenos Cars has the capacity to produce up to 200 units of the E10 annually, with the company hoping to have sold anywhere upwards of 150 units globally at the end of its first year of sales.

Electric cars take to the track
As the name suggests, Formula E is all about electric power. The arrival of this new petrol-free motor racing competition is a significant step for both the car and the environment. Two years ago motorsport's international governing body, the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), announced its ambitious plan for an electric car race that would mimic the hugely popular F1 series. As the arrival of Formula E looms, experts predict that it could have a big impact on the future of car manufacturing.
Initially, the cars in the competition will be powered by enormous battery engines. Each battery weighs 200 kilograms, producing around 200 kilowatts of power. Depending on the speed, the electric engines will last anywhere from a few hours to just 25 minutes and the cars can reach speeds of up to 220 kilometers per hour.
"If you look in the past, a lot of development in the car industry has come from racing," said Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag. "The transfer of technology is potentially very big."

CarscoopsDavid Brown Auto, Britain's newest arrival in the car-making and coach-building business, has outlined its first vehicle, currently bearing the codename "Project Judi", ahead of a world premiere at the Top Marques Show, in Monaco, on April 17.
The founder of the company, self-proclaimed "businessperson and car enthusiast" David Brown, who may or may not be related to one-time owner of Aston Martin, Sir David Brown (we emailed the company on the matter and are awaiting a response), said that, the as-of-yet unnamed model will be built around the chassis of the Jaguar XKR, featuring a bespoke and original exterior and interior design.
"As reliability is vital, we chose to adopt a thoroughly proven and acclaimed chassis that not only delivers dynamic performance but also lends itself to our lightweight aluminium design," said Brown. "Renown for its performance and handling, the XKR has been extensively developed and refined by one of the world’s greatest car manufacturers, making it an obvious choice on which to base our car."
Power will also come from the Jag's supercharged 5.0-liter V8 rated for 510PS (503bhp) and 625Nm (461 lb-ft), paired to a six-speed automatic driving the rear wheels for a reported 0-60 mph sprint in 4.6 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.8 sec) and a limited top speed of 155 mph (248 km/h).
In regards to the car's philosophy, Brown mentioned:
"I wanted all the impact and style of a classic sports car, but with modern capabilities and conveniences. This is what I want in a car, but it’s not something anyone really offers. So, I’ve created it myself. It has been developed using a combination of both traditional and contemporary technology, including the latest in automotive expertise. It has undergone a thorough analysis and development programme, including highly advanced windtunnel and dynamic simulations."
WorldCarFansA ten-year-old boy from Norway decided to take his father's car for a joyride but ended up stuck in snow.
The boy took his 18-month-old sister in the family car – fitted obviously with an automatic transmission - and managed to travel for approximately 6 miles (10 km) en route to their grandmother's house until they got stuck in snow. It happened on a country road in south-eastern Norway and the police was informed after a snowplough driver noticed the stranded vehicle.
Local media mentions the adventurous boy told a snowplough operator that he was a dwarf and ended up in the ditch after making a U-turn as he wanted to go back home to get his driver's license. The police took the uninjured kids back home to their parents who said they will be more careful from now on with the car's keys.
