Franz Tost has revealed that Red Bull Toro Rosso Honda and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing will collaborate in a more extensive manner in 2019, with the outfits set to share a number of components including the Honda power unit.
2019 will mark the second season of Toro Rosso running with the Japanese engine manufacturer but it will also be the first season that the sister team at Red Bull also align with Honda, but as well as the engines, team principal Tost has revealed that they will also share the same ‘rear part’ of the car, which means the gearbox and rear suspension as well as the hydraulics and electronics.
The alliance is much akin to the one shared by Scuderia Ferrari and the Haas F1 Team and is completely legal as per Formula 1 regulations, with Tost revealing they will also use some parts of the front suspension as they bid to improve on their championship standing next season, with eighth in the Constructors’ Championship likely to be as good as it gets this year with seven races remaining. Pierre Gasly has scored the team’s best finish of the season in the Bahrain Grand Prix, where he finished an excellent fourth, although he is set to switch from Toro Rosso to Red Bull in 2019 in place of Daniel Ricciardo, who is switching to the Renault Sport Formula One Team.
“We will have a very close cooperation with Red Bull Technology next year because we will have the same rear part,” said Tost on Formula1.com, “which means the power unit, gearbox and the suspension – everything within the regulations [that we’re allowed to use].
“The front suspension as well, the inner parts, not the outer parts. But that’s a lot, because the complete rear part means also the hydraulics, the electronics, all this kind of stuff.”

It has been rumoured that Raikkonen will join Sauber and make some kind of non-driver investment. But Raikkonen said there had been "zero discussion" over a management role.
"I signed my contract as a driver and I hope I stay there as a driver," he said.
"Who knows what happens in the future or two years. There is always speculation, but I don't have any contract about that."
When asked by Autosport what F1 gives him, Raikkonen said: "Racing. That is about it. It is the best time of the weekend.
"Honestly, I always said I will stop when I feel it is right for me. I don't need to come if I don't feel [that].
"The racing is the part I enjoy the most, that is why we are here."
