The Stig v F1
"Whoever's in that car is a seriously good driver," said Fernando Alonso pre-race at the British Grand Prix last weekend.

Alonso was watching a man being driven around in a two seat Santander grand prix car by a mysterious white-clad driver.

"I've no idea who he is, but he's definitely ex-F1," Alonso continued.

Who was he talking about? The Stig of course!

Those of you who were at Silverstone last weekend may have noticed the well-known tame racing driving lapping the circuit before the F1 cars went out to the grid.

The Stig had been bought in a Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital charity auction for the princely sum of £35,000, by a man who'd won £5million pounds on the lottery.

His 35 grand got him three laps in the back of the Santander grand prix car, driven by the Stig himself.

You'll know if you watched the race how wet it was, but the Stig threw off the challenge with a shrug.

Or at least he would have if he was prone to any physical expression what-so-ever, but as he's not he just got on with it.

No traction control, no driver aids and cold, hard Avon wet tyres.

The back even stepped out on him at one point, at 178mph, and he saved it.

But then what did you expect from a driver who even Alonso admires?

Sir Stiggington, we salute you.

Nesta foto vê-se que é o Ben Collins. Ou pelo menos parece!

Mas a lista de outros stigs é infindável:

" Rumours have it that one of the new Stigs is Damon Hill and occasionally Colin McRae."

" There's also rumours that one of the most frequent new Stig is Ben Collins and Julian Bailey."

Assim com o olho vermelhinho e tudo, deve ser o Terminator! [:)][:D]

Tim Schrick Is The Stig?

According to autoblog.nl, the Top Gear crew was caught while on location by a video-camera-wielding fan-boy of the show outside the race track. It was there they caught a glimpse, Bigfoot-like, of a driver in white racing gear similar to that worn by our Stiggie. More importantly, he was carrying a matching white helmet. The Dutch fan-boys at the site all over this whole blogging about cars thing have identified the chap as none other than former Volkswagen Polo racer Tim Schrick. Wait, a German? No way. There's no way a German could talk so many Brits around the Top Gear track at Dunsfold Park. Inconceivable. If this is true, the producers might as well just change his name to Das Stigenwehrfer and get Max Mosley to be his goose-stepping assistant. Hmm, that makes us wonder — you think he makes stars coming into his reasonably priced car say "Jawohl, mein Führenstiggie!" [autoblog.nl]

Some say his droppings have been found as far north as York. And that he has a full-size tattoo of his face - on his face...

Some say that after making love, he bites the head of his partner, and that he's had to give up binge-drinking now that it 's got to £1.18 a litre...

... All we know is he's called the Stig.

Quem viu os últimos episódios desta última "saga" do TG percebe que que tanto o Schrick como a Sabine participaram no programa mas com a identidade perfeitamente assumida.
